Jorge Canela is a fully licensed medical doctor in Mexico and is currently in the process of obtaining medical licensure in Canada. With a distinguished career in medicine and public health, he brings a rare depth of clinical expertise and cross-border healthcare knowledge to Canela Health Connections.
Dr. Canela began his medical career in Mexico, where he practiced extensively in primary care clinics, emergency departments, and public health settings, gaining firsthand experience managing acute conditions, chronic disease, preventive care, and population-level health challenges. This broad clinical background allows him to assess medical cases comprehensively, identify risks early, and determine the most appropriate and effective pathways for care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Canela has developed a strong understanding of both the Mexican and Canadian healthcare systems, including their structures, limitations, regulatory environments, and patient access challenges. This dual system expertise uniquely positions him to guide Canadian patients through international medical care with clarity, safety, and confidence.
As Director of Canela Health Connections, Dr. Canela leads a multidisciplinary team composed of physicians, specialists, and healthcare professionals, working collaboratively to ensure each case is reviewed from a medical, not commercial, perspective.
